Frequently Asked Questions
We would love to answer any question you have. Here are answers to the most common questions, but please feel free to contact us if you have a question not answered below.
Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model focused on putting the patient first. That means treating them when they need it, never rushing patients through appointments, and being proactive with healthcare treatment plans. The doctor-patient relationship is just as the name suggests – direct. Direct Primary Care clinics don’t accept insurance, rather they choose to work directly with the patient, providing wholesale labs, deeply discounted prescription prices, and other costs savings along the way.
The terms are often used interchangeably and essentially refer to the same principles. Concierge medicine is an umbrella term for medical practices that seek to get rid of the interference of insurance by which most other traditional practices are restricted. Direct primary care is the most common and most accessible form of concierge medicine.
We have cut the red tape of bureaucracy. The restrictions that typically leave physicians in a traditional healthcare setting buried in paperwork are removed, allowing us to spend our time where it really counts: with patients. We have eliminated any interference with the patient-physician relationship. We have returned family practice medicine to its root values of clinical excellence for and compassionate knowledge of every patient. In every aspect of family healthcare we promise accessibility, convenience, and affordability.
Yes, because everyone benefits from a service tailored directly to them. That’s why we offer truly custom healthcare. Our practice is devoted to the maintenance of your good health, for the enhancement of your daily life that only physical well-being can bring. We’re here for your immediate, acute needs. But because proactive healthcare is just as important, we’re here for that, too.
Every visit, for whatever reason, will be thorough. Your immediate concerns will be addressed, and all your questions will be answered. As the months and years go by, we will build a comprehensive, intimate knowledge of your health. We will use this invaluable understanding to help you maintain optimal health. The personal attention we can give your particular needs is available in no other regimen of care.
Yes. We recommend our patients obtain a major medical plan with a high deductible coupled with a health savings account to ensure financial help should hospitalization or referral to a specialist be necessary. We’re happy to refer you to insurance representatives who can help customize an insurance plan to your specific needs.
Unfortunately, not at this time. Once our providers complete the Medicare opt-out process, they will be able to accept Medicare patients who sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover any laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations prescribed by our offices. If you are currently covered by Medicare and are interested in becoming a patient of Remedy Health, please contact our office to be placed on a waiting list. We will notify you once our physicians have completed the opt-out process.
Unfortunately, no. Your membership is not yet defined as a “medical expense” in most states and as such is not deductible. However, while your monthly fee is not tax deductible, your membership, in conjunction with a high deductible insurance policy (the premiums for which may be tax deductible), will satisfy the health insurance mandate under the Affordable Care Act.
Please confer with your tax consultant to clarify tax consequences in your particular circumstances.
By providing superb care with unprecedented access, we seek to reduce the need for hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of care are required, we will work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay, as well as work closely with any specialist you may require. In some cases, depending on the level of care and the sorts of expertise required, we may rely on those specialized caregivers to manage your treatment.
Yes. We are happy to accept the children of our enrolled clients at rates detailed in our fee schedule. At this time, we are not able to provide routine vaccinations for young children but we will happily work with you to arrange these.
By all means, yes! Because illness and injury do not respect regular office hours, you may call your physicians any day, at any hour. If necessary, we can arrange for a home visit, schedule permitting. If you prefer, you may also use our secure patient portal to access your medical record and then e-mail or text your physician. It’s one more way we do custom healthcare.
This is yet another advantage to the direct primary care model. Because we know you well, we can streamline your care when you’re away from home and become sick, saving you an expensive trip to an urgent care or the emergency room. Many illnesses can be diagnosed and treatment determined via a simple conversation by phone, email, text or webcam. We can then locate the nearest pharmacy and order the medications you need or have them shipped to you from our office.
We maintain scrupulous standards of privacy. We are never obligated to provide any third party with a copy of your records unless you specifically ask that we do so.
Come get to know us! Schedule a free, unconditional visit to discuss your healthcare needs. It’s the only reasonable way to begin what we trust will be a long, productive, healthy relationship.
